[00:00] Fellow tennis nerds, you know this guy

[00:01] by now, Adam. And in in his hand is the

[00:05] Proanx KI Black Ace Pro, which we’re

[00:08] going to review today. He’s going to

[00:09] talk about it a bit. I’m going to fill

[00:11] in my comments a bit. And it’s a kind of

[00:13] interesting frame. The Prox, they’re

[00:15] known for arm comfort. Kinetic Tech

[00:18] where like you have micro beads in small

[00:20] chambers moving around towards the

[00:21] impact zone. In the Black A series, it’s

[00:24] also ridiculously flexible. It’s a very

[00:26] flexible frame. You kind of if you know

[00:28] what the clash is, then you probably

[00:29] will see some resemblance in this. H,

[00:32] but it still packs a little bit of a

[00:34] punch for a 97 screenshare

[00:37] head size on the on the tour and on the

[00:40] wreck market. Adam, what are your

[00:42] thoughts? First of all, it’s a beautiful

[00:43] racket. I think ProX have, you know,

[00:46] really nailed this design. It’s it’s

[00:48] absolutely gorgeous in person and it

[00:50] played really well, too. This was

[00:53] actually one of the best rackets I’ve

[00:54] tested in a long time. Obviously, it’s

[00:57] my type of racket. Thin beam, flexible,

[01:00] just a very smooth racket to use, but it

[01:03] actually gave me incredible amounts of

[01:05] power on my forehand and serve. And I

[01:08] think it was just because of the

[01:10] confidence it gave me to to swing fully

[01:14] fully out basically on all my shots

[01:16] because of the thin beam. It it just

[01:18] slices through the air and it’s it’s

[01:21] whippy mainly because it’s a thin beam,

[01:23] very maneuverable weight. The swing

[01:25] weight was absolutely perfect. No

[01:27] modifications were needed and I was

[01:28] hitting some of the biggest forehands

[01:29] I’ve hit, you know, even for a 98 square

[01:32] in racket. And this was 97. To give you

[01:34] a little bit of the the specs here, we

[01:36] can see it on the side. 97, as we said,

[01:39] 60/19, not super open, but it’s it’s

[01:41] definitely a 1619 32 cm balance. Uh 305

[01:45] g pretty lightweight. It could have a

[01:47] little bit more weight probably. Uh you

[01:48] could add definitely one more overgrip

[01:50] or a leather grip or uh tweak it a bit.

[01:52] Uh the swing weight as on many proenics

[01:54] rackets is quite high. It’s like close

[01:57] to 330 330ish depending on the string.

[02:01] And I I like that. I think you need that

[02:03] in this racket. That helps the power uh

[02:04] if you go lower in swing weight cuz you

[02:07] you would still find it’s pretty whippy,

[02:08] right? Like it’s a pretty whippy racket.

[02:10] It was very whippy. You know, I was able

[02:12] to step into the court and hit some, you

[02:14] know, uh very whippy approach shots

[02:16] which, you know, I didn’t expect to be

[02:18] able to do, but it was no problem. Just

[02:21] came natural. It felt old school

[02:23] prestige which is the feel that many

[02:25] people allude to when you know you talk

[02:28] about what’s the best type of racket for

[02:31] feel and this is this is it. They uh

[02:34] really delivered and not only that it’s

[02:37] extremely powerful. I was able to get a

[02:39] lot of power once I hit the sweet spot

[02:41] which actually was pretty generous.

[02:43] Maybe on the backhand if you don’t catch

[02:44] it clean, you’ll maybe drop some short,

[02:47] but that’s not a not a problem. As long

[02:49] as you you you feel the response from

[02:51] the racket, you know what you’re doing

[02:52] wrong. And this tells you a lot of

[02:55] information on every shot that you hit.

[02:57] Yeah, it’s an excellent frame actually.

[02:58] I I I compared it a bit to a PT57A on

[03:01] steroids first because it’s like has

[03:03] that long dwell time, stays a long time

[03:05] on the strings. If you don’t like that,

[03:07] if you like a rapid response, it’s not

[03:08] for you. And it’s very arm friendly, so

[03:10] you don’t have to worry about your arm.

[03:12] Its sweet spot is generous for what it

[03:14] is, but it it like doesn’t really give

[03:16] you a lot of forgiveness outside the

[03:18] center, which is kind of also what other

[03:21] 97 square inch rackets. They you have a

[03:23] smaller sweet spot generally, of course,

[03:25] but but pretty forgiving. I noticed like

[03:27] when you were serving, you could really

[03:28] smack the serve. I think I never seen

[03:30] you serve this well with a racket that

[03:31] you tested from from my stack at least.

[03:34] And so the serve plus one like you were

[03:36] dominating serve and forehands like

[03:37] amazingly. Yeah, I mean it just gave me

[03:40] confidence to hit out as hard as I could

[03:42] basically on the serve and forehand and

[03:44] it was very comfortable while doing so.

[03:46] So I, you know, that became sort of the

[03:48] pattern that I was looking for trying to

[03:50] set up for a forehand and you know it it

[03:53] felt like a slingshot. You know it it

[03:55] dwells on the string bed, sinks into the

[03:58] racket and then it just launches back

[04:00] out which was a great thing for your

[04:02] serve and my forehand. Not maybe not so

[04:05] good for my volleys. I I felt like it

[04:07] was yeah, it just uh sunk into the

[04:10] strings a little too much and then kind

[04:13] of had a mind of its own at net. But

[04:15] that could be user error, but I think

[04:17] the trade-off is well worth it for the

[04:19] feeling

[04:21] for the serve and forehand. And

[04:23] honestly, every ground stroke felt

[04:25] incredible. Slice uh was challenging at

[04:28] first cuz it’s just a different feeling

[04:29] racket, so you do have to get used to

[04:31] it. But it was one of the most fun tests

[04:34] I’ve I’ve had um recently. Yeah, I

[04:36] agree. I mean like the volley is

[04:38] something I struggle with unless you

[04:40] really stabbed it, right? Like you

[04:41] really need to get in front and and be

[04:43] on top of the volley. If you try to just

[04:45] caress it, it had a little bit of a

[04:47] ratic response like it maybe flexed too

[04:49] much the racket. It would have been

[04:50] interesting to play this racket with a

[04:52] 60 stiffness instead of the 57 RA. Uh

[04:55] maybe that would have taken out some of

[04:57] the magic that you get as well because

[04:58] you get a lot of like trampolining that

[05:00] is still controlled from a 97 in. So you

[05:03] could actually generate good pop

[05:05] forehand and serving I think was my

[05:07] favorite as well with this racket. Like

[05:08] serving brilliant slices a little floaty

[05:12] unless you contact it perfectly. Uh so

[05:14] that could be something to think about.

[05:16] Maybe something you can dial in with

[05:17] strings but this is on my third string

[05:19] setup. H I have not tried gut hybrid or

[05:23] like multi-hybrid. maybe could be cool

[05:25] in this uh to, you know, get a bit of a

[05:28] different feel, maybe a little bit

[05:29] crisper feel on volleys and so on. So,

[05:31] um definitely a racket that like if

[05:34] you’re not afraid of a 97 in terms of

[05:35] sweet spot and so on, like you you

[05:37] should try this. It’s like a very arm

[05:39] friendly, fun racket. You might fall in

[05:41] love if you’re open to the flex, right?

[05:43] It it it would make me happy to see

[05:45] people go out, try this, and buy it

[05:47] because Prox has done a great job.

[05:49] They’ve been around for a while and I’ve

[05:51] never played with Prokenics, but I’ve

[05:54] always, you know, been curious about

[05:55] what they do. They do make really

[05:56] quality sticks. Um, and again, well well

[06:00] done for them. I I enjoyed it a lot.

[06:03] Yeah, great racket and well played by

[06:05] Adam. I think they’ve done a great job.

[06:07] Cosmetic looks very nice. Maybe they

[06:09] could have sent the Racket Sense thumb

[06:11] print there. Uh, I can show you. This is

[06:15] if this is your only like big gripe with

[06:17] a racket, it’s it’s uh it’s not too bad.

[06:19] That’s the only thing that’s nitpicking.

[06:21] Uh and of course maybe like it would be

[06:23] interesting to try a little bit firmer

[06:24] would maybe be something I would tweak

[06:26] to. But yeah, it’s one of the most fun

[06:28] rackets I think Adam and I have both

[06:29] tested and Adam has tested quite a few

[06:31] rackets with me over the last few weeks.

[06:33] So, no question. Uh, this one is high on

[06:35] the list of good sticks for sure and and

[06:38] kudos to them for being a smaller brand

[06:40] still, but they they have a lot of

[06:42] experience in the industry and you can

[06:43] see it with their with their arm

[06:45] friendly tech as well because I think

[06:46] arm friendliness is what we we many of

[06:49] us need. Exactly. Cool. Thanks, Adam.
